Square of Miracles Monuments Ticket with Leaning Tower — Review & Booking Guide
The Square of Miracles Monuments Ticket with Leaning Tower is the all-access combo pass for Piazza dei Miracoli. It includes timed entry to climb the Leaning Tower plus open-access entry to all five other monuments: the Cathedral, Baptistery, Camposanto, Opera del Duomo Museum, and Sinopie Museum. It costs €27 at face value — just €7 more than the Tower-only ticket — and is the best value option if you plan to spend a full day at the complex.
Most first-time visitors to Pisa book a Tower ticket and head home, unaware that the square contains five other monuments, each worth visiting in their own right. The Baptistery has some of the most extraordinary acoustics of any building in Italy. The Camposanto is a hauntingly beautiful medieval cloister. The Opera del Duomo Museum holds original sculptures removed from the exterior monuments over centuries. The Sinopie Museum contains medieval preparatory frescoes that most visitors never see. This ticket unlocks all of it — and for just €7 more than the Tower + Cathedral entry ticket.

What to Expect on Arrival
Step 1 — Collect your tickets: On arrival, go to the Audioguide Desk at the entrance to the Sinopie Museum in Piazza dei Miracoli. Present your booking confirmation to exchange it for your official entry tickets. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your Tower time slot to allow time for this.
Step 2 — Store your bags: Before joining the Tower queue, store all bags and metal objects at the free cloakroom at 21 Piazza del Duomo. This is mandatory for the Tower climb. Allow 10–15 minutes.
Step 3 — Climb the Tower: Present your timed Tower ticket at the entrance gate at your reserved time. Groups of around 30 enter together for a 30-minute window. The 251-step climb takes around 10–15 minutes; you will have approximately 15–20 minutes at the top.
Step 4 — Explore the other monuments at your own pace: After the Tower, visit the Cathedral, Baptistery, Camposanto, and both museums in any order during opening hours (generally 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, varying by season). There is no time restriction on any monument other than the Tower.
The Six Monuments: What Each One Offers
Leaning Tower — The centrepiece. Climbing it is the primary reason most people visit Pisa, and the tilting sensation on the staircase is something no photograph can convey. Views from the top stretch across the city and the Tuscan landscape. See our full guide to what you see on the climb.
Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta — Built in 1064, this is one of the great Romanesque cathedrals of medieval Europe. The exterior — with its layered arcades, bronze doors, and Carrara marble cladding — is extraordinary. Inside, the scale is immense: a long nave with striped marble columns, a gilded wooden ceiling added after a 1595 fire, and Giovanni Pisano’s pulpit, a masterpiece of Gothic sculpture. See our full Cathedral guide.
Baptistery of St. John — The largest baptistery in Italy and one of the most acoustically remarkable buildings anywhere in Europe. Staff members regularly demonstrate the acoustics by singing a single note, which swells into a full chord as the sound resonates around the dome. Nicola Pisano’s pulpit (1260) inside is considered one of the defining works of Italian proto-Renaissance sculpture. See our full Baptistery guide.
Camposanto Monumentale — Pisa’s ancient monumental cemetery, enclosed in a long Gothic cloister. According to tradition, its soil was brought from Calvary in Jerusalem during the Crusades so that prominent Pisans could be buried in holy ground. The cloister contains Roman sarcophagi repurposed as Christian tombs and the remnants of extraordinary 14th-century frescoes, severely damaged by Allied bombing in 1944. The quiet atmosphere here is unlike anywhere else in the complex. See our full Camposanto guide.
Opera del Duomo Museum — Houses the original sculptures and treasures removed from the Cathedral and Baptistery for conservation, including Giovanni Pisano’s striking statues of prophets and sibyls that once lined the Baptistery exterior. The museum provides essential context for what you see on the facades outside.
Sinopie Museum — Displays the sinopie: large preparatory drawings in reddish earth pigment that 14th-century fresco painters laid onto plaster before applying their final colours. These were only discovered after the 1944 bombing damaged the Camposanto’s upper plaster layer. They represent a rare window into the creative process of medieval fresco painters.
Is This Ticket Worth the Upgrade?
At just €7 more than the Tower + Cathedral entry ticket, the full monuments combo is excellent value for visitors with three or more hours to spend at the complex. The Baptistery alone justifies the upgrade for most people — its acoustics demonstration is one of those experiences that visitors consistently describe as an unexpected highlight. The Camposanto is a hauntingly atmospheric space that rewards slower visitors. The two museums are less essential but add genuine depth.
The upgrade makes most sense if you are spending a full day in Pisa or have a particular interest in medieval art and architecture. If you are on a tight half-day schedule — for example, as part of a guided day trip from Florence — the basic Tower + Cathedral ticket is the more practical choice. For a full discussion of timing, see our guide on how long to spend at the Leaning Tower.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Square of Miracles Monuments Ticket include?
It includes timed entry to the Leaning Tower plus open-access entry to the Cathedral, Baptistery, Camposanto, Opera del Duomo Museum, and Sinopie Museum — all six monuments and museums in Piazza dei Miracoli.
How long does it take to see everything with this ticket?
Allow a full day — at least five to six hours — to visit all six sites at a comfortable pace. The Tower takes around 30–45 minutes including queuing and the climb. The Cathedral, Baptistery, and Camposanto each merit 45–60 minutes. The two museums take around 30 minutes each.
Do I need to visit the monuments in a specific order?
No. Only the Tower has a fixed time slot. All other monuments can be visited in any order during their opening hours. Most visitors do the Tower first while they have energy for the climb, then explore the other monuments at leisure.
Where do I collect my tickets on the day?
Go to the Audioguide Desk at the entrance to the Sinopie Museum in Piazza dei Miracoli. Present your booking confirmation to receive your official entry tickets. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your Tower time slot.
Is the Baptistery always open?
The Baptistery is generally open, but some areas may be closed periodically for restoration work. Check current status at opapisa.it before your visit.
Can I visit all monuments on different days with this ticket?
The Tower entry is valid only for the date and time slot you book. The tickets for all other monuments are valid from your chosen date for one year, so you can return to visit any remaining monuments on a different day.
Is there a guided tour option with this ticket?
This ticket is self-guided. If you want a guided experience of the square, consider the Leaning Tower, Baptistery & Cathedral Guided Tour.
